"I have rainbow powers!" she exclaims, calling them to her in her little voice as she runs through the house shooting imaginary colors out of her hands.
I smile. She does have rainbow powers,
I see them every day.
They come through the pink of her smiles
and the ultraviolet of her laughs.
The blue of her snuggles, the yellow of her silliness,
the lavender of her princess play.
They come through the red of her determination,
the burnt orange of her defiance.
They're in the grey-green-brown of her eyes as they
light up with each new ability or discovery.
But it's the brilliant white of her heart that shines brightest,
cheering a room simply with her presence.
She has rainbow powers, that girl.
She is going to color the world with them.
